Climate Resiliency in Action

“None of us can do all that needs to be done, but together we can accomplish miracles.”

The celebration held on August 13 in the unincorporated community of Five Points is a perfect illustration of this quote.

CCEJN, the GoFundMe Foundation, and communities affected by extreme heat, air pollution, and polluted water have joined forces to address these issues:

  • 120 residents in Fresno and Madera counties are now breathing cleaner air inside their homes because they receive an air purifier
  • Over 100 households in Fresno and Kern counties can now turn on their faucets and have clean water for drinking and cooking, without having to drive to the store and pay for water
  • 42 homes now have a proper cooling device that allows families to protect themselves from the scorching temperatures we experience each summer. And 40 more will receive a mini-split in the coming months.

Thank you to GoFundMe Foundation for having the vision to mobilize resources to help vulnerable communities in California. Thank you to the residents of Five Points, San Joaquin, Cantua Creek, and McFarland for trusting CCEJN and opening their homes to our efforts to make our communities more resilient. There’s a lot more work to be done, but we’re excited because we have philanthropic institutions like the GoFundMe Foundation committed to helping and because we residents willing to organize to improve our lives.
